Jeera Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice

  • 1 tablespoon ghee

  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1-inch cinnamon stick

  • 2-3 cloves

  • Salt to taste

Methods

  1. Wash the basmati rice 2-3 times and soak in water for 10 minutes in a bowl  

  2. Drain all the water from the rice

  3. Heat the ghee in a medium-sized wok on medium heat

  4. Add cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves, and sauté for 2 minutes

  5. Add the rice into the wok. Sauté till every grain of rice looks glossy (around 2 minutes)

  6. Add 2 cups of boiling water and salt to taste to the rice.

  7. Cover the wok with a lid and cook for 5-7 minutes or until rice is fully cooked and the water has evaporated

 note: goes well with Spinach dal and Bombay Potatoes
